Has Bike Sharing hit the mainstream?

Bike Sharing

Surely you’ve heard of it by now? Starting in European capitals like Paris, Barcelona, Vienna and even Warsaw.  Bike sharing makes short distance urban bike trips accessible and easy for everyone in more than 600 cities around the World.  With some skepticism and and lots of critics (some are hilarious), several Amercian cities, like Washington DC., New York and Chicago are jumping onboard.  Although Portland, our home and self proclaimed bike capital of the USA, has yet to launch a bike share program.  But it’s coming.  We hope.

So, now that CNN is reporting on the spread of bike sharing programs, has it finally hit the mainstream? Is it finally something that everyone accepts is here to stay?  Does your city have a bike share program?
