Cycling the Jura Trail from Czestachowa to Krakow

Follow the Red

A 3 day tour of the Zamki w Małopolska ( Castles of Lesser Poland).

Zamek Bobolice

There are 25 castles, castle ruins, knights castles and Guard houses built in the 14th/15th century by King Kazimierz to protect his Kingdom from the Bohemian Kingdom to the south.   We hit 5 of the more well known castles/ruins.

Map...just in case

We started on Friday taking the train from Warsaw to Częstakowa then cycling toward our ultimate destination, Kraków.

Sunflowers, second only to Wheat in frequency

One day of sun, one day of overcast and one day of rain.

Unfortunately the rain precluded photos of the most picturesque section of the trip thru the Ocjówski National Park.

Into the Ojców valley...and the rain begins.

I guess we’ll just have to do it again. 🙂

Back on the road.

In the distance we spot our first fellow tourist on this trip. Nice Polish guy. Moving slowly, but friendly and chatty. We saw him twice that day

  1. Really nice journey, congratulations 🙂 I love these sunflowers! And for me Kraków and Lesser Poland is one of the most beautiful places in Poland
