Last evening C and I joined Tour De Varsovie for a culture tour around the Zoliborz district of Warsaw. Until yesterday we hadn’t heard of Tour De Varsovie. I saw their post on facebook and we jumped on board. The tagline is Kolarstwo Miejskie, or “Urban Cycling.” The tour, in it’s third season, is focused on covering the urban landscape by bike. Yesterday’s stage took us to see examples of Graffiti & Street Art and the Modernist Architecture of the Communist years in Zoliborz. There looks to be several more stages this summer, so like the Tour De Varsovie facebook page for updates. Certainly cool and very nice to meet folks who have some of the same interests as we do…
As the only non-Polish speakers in the group we struggled to keep up with the narration as we stopped at the various points along the way. Fortunately for us, Karolina, one of the group’s participants, volunteered to translate some of the finer points of the language for us. Dziękujęmy bardzo, Karolina!
Check out our photo’s from last night’s tour.
